Arun Thai Cooking School - Terms and Conditions

Last Updated: 15 September 2026

Who you are contracting with

Arun Thai Cooking operates two schools. Bookings at our Bangkok school are made with Arun Thai Cooking Co., Ltd. Bookings at our Phuket school are made with Arun Thai Cooking (Phuket) Co., Ltd. Both are registered Thai companies.

We run daily cooking classes, private and group bookings, and the Thai Culinary Program (DTV-Qualifying), a 9-month or 12-month program of 45 or 60 sessions that can support an application for Thailand's Destination Thailand Visa (DTV).

These terms are grouped by what you are booking. Go to the group that covers your booking.

  • Daily class bookings
  • Private and group bookings
  • Thai Culinary Program
  • General terms

Daily class bookings

This section covers seats booked on our public daily classes at our Bangkok and Phuket schools. Private classes, family bookings, celebrations, corporate events and school groups are covered in the next section.

Cancellation

14 days or more before the scheduled date: 100% refund.

7 to 13 days before the scheduled date: 50% refund.

Fewer than 7 days before the scheduled date: no refund.

Private and Group Bookings

These terms apply to private classes, family bookings, celebrations, corporate events and school groups at Arun Thai Cooking, at both our Bangkok and our Phuket school. They do not apply to public daily class seats or to the Thai Culinary Program, which are covered in their own sections.

Everything below applies to both schools. Anything that differs by branch is set out at the end, under your branch.

Quotations

Quotations are valid for 14 days from issue and are subject to availability. A quotation does not hold a date. Your date is held once the deposit is received.

Minimum charge

The minimum charge is based on eight guests. Groups of nine or more are charged at the per-guest rate for the program selected. Groups smaller than eight are welcome and pay the eight-guest minimum for that program.

Deposit and balance

A 50% deposit confirms your booking. Bookings made fewer than seven days before the event are paid in full at confirmation.

The balance, your final guest count, your menu selection and any dietary requirements are due seven days before the event.

Changes to guest numbers

Guest numbers can be increased up to seven days before the event, subject to availability and to the kitchen capacity for your session.

Reductions made after the seven-day deadline do not reduce the amount payable. Your final guest count is the number confirmed at the seven-day deadline, or eight, whichever is higher.

Cancellation

Cancellation charges apply to the total value of the booking.

14 days or more before the event: no charge.

7 to 13 days before the event: 50% of the total booking.

Fewer than 7 days before the event: 100% of the total booking.

Where a cancellation charge is less than the deposit already paid, the difference is refunded.

If we cannot deliver your booking

If Arun Thai Cooking cannot deliver your booking, we will offer you an alternative date or a full refund of everything you have paid, at your choice.

Prices and payment

All prices include 7% VAT.

We accept Thai bank transfer, card payment by secure payment link, and cash at the school. Card payments add 5%. The full amount payable including the card fee is shown in your quotation and on the payment screen before you pay.

Dietary requirements

Vegan, halal and gluten-free adjustments are made at no charge and must be confirmed by the seven-day deadline so we can plan the shopping. We cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment, as the kitchen handles shellfish, peanuts, soy, gluten and dairy.

Children

Children are welcome and cook alongside the adults. Guests under 18 remain the responsibility of the accompanying adult throughout the session, including during any market visit.

Market visits

Market visits run subject to weather and local conditions. If a market visit cannot run, the cooking session proceeds and the difference in program value is refunded or applied as a credit, at your choice.

Photography

We take photographs during sessions. Tell us before your session if you do not want your group photographed or your images used, and we will record it on your booking.

Bangkok school

Bookings at our Bangkok school are made with Arun Thai Cooking Co., Ltd., a registered Thai company.

Our Bangkok school takes up to 50 guests across two floors.

Programs including a market visit travel by tuk-tuk.

Phuket school

Bookings at our Phuket school are made with Arun Thai Cooking (Phuket) Co., Ltd., a registered Thai company.

Our Phuket school takes up to 25 guests, working in small teams within one room.

The guided market visit is included in the morning session. If it cannot run, the difference between the morning and afternoon rate is refunded or applied as a credit, at your choice.

This section covers the 9-month and 12-month Thai Culinary Program and the documents we issue for Destination Thailand Visa applications.

Program participation

Class scheduling: Multiple scheduling options per month. Students may choose from available dates for both teaching and practice sessions.

Note: Official embassy and government fees are non-refundable per standard international policy.

Terms of eligibility

To qualify for a refund, the applicant must demonstrate a good-faith effort to obtain the visa. No refund will be provided if the rejection is due to:

Non-attendance: Failure to attend a scheduled interview or appointment requested by the Thai Embassy or Immigration office.

Departure during processing: Leaving the country of application before a decision is issued. Applicants are required to remain in the country of application throughout the visa application process.

Missing documentation: Failure or refusal to provide documents requested by the government.

Legal notice: Upon issuance of any refund, all enrollment letters, certificates, and supporting documents issued by Arun Thai Cooking are immediately revoked and rendered null and void. The school reserves the right to notify the relevant authorities regarding the status of these documents.

Change of mind

Before the enrollment letter is issued: 80% refund.

After the enrollment letter is issued: No refund.

After the visa application has been submitted or approved: No refund.

Rescheduling

Rescheduling is permitted with at least 7 days' advance notice for DTV courses.

Rescheduled classes must occur within 1 year of the original start date for the 9-month course, and within 1.5 years for the 12-month course.

Missed classes without prior notice will not be refunded or rescheduled.

Enrollment validity and start date

Once an Enrollment Letter has been issued, it becomes an official document tied to a specific start date. This letter is used for visa submission under Thailand's Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) program and represents completion of the first stage of service delivery.

Validity period. The Enrollment Letter is intended to be used for visa application within 60 days from the date of issuance. If the applicant does not submit their visa application within this period, embassy requirements may change, and a new Enrollment Letter may be required. Requests for new or updated letters after this period are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may incur an administrative re-issuance fee.

Class scheduling and follow-up. After visa approval or upon arrival in Thailand, students must contact the school to arrange their monthly class schedule. Students remain eligible to attend classes within the standard flexibility period, 12 months for the 9-month program and 18 months for the 12-month program, as long as their visa remains valid.

Changes after visa application or approval. After a visa application has been submitted or approved, the start date and documents issued are considered final. Requests to alter or re-date the Enrollment Letter after visa approval cannot be accommodated, as the program dates have already been confirmed for internal scheduling purposes.

No-show or extended delay after visa approval. Students who have an approved visa but do not contact the school within 60 days of their visa start date may lose their original placement in the program schedule. In such cases, future attendance or rescheduling will be considered on a case-by-case basis depending on class availability. The school will make reasonable efforts to accommodate the student where possible, but continuation of enrollment cannot be guaranteed without timely communication.

Exceptions. Exceptions may be considered in verified cases such as embassy processing delays, rejected visa applications, or medical emergencies, subject to written proof and school approval.
